About Us

About the Giggleswick Scribes of Wigglesworthe:

The Giggleswick Scribes of Wigglesworthe is a small scribal group (household/academy) that produces work for the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) to recognize its participants.

We are based in the Society’s Canton of Sudentorre within the Barony of Stierbach of the Kingdom of Atlantia.

We strive for our work to be inspired by period extant artifacts that reflect the recipient’s choice of re-enactment (persona, period, place).

Our name is a nod of appreciation to Janna Wigglesworthe of Giggleswick who provides a place for us artisans to congregate and work.  In order to prevent confusion with the Barony of Stonemarche’s shtick we have flipped the Giggleswick and Wigglesworth from her name.

Historically and modernly the locations of Giggleswick and Wigglesworth do exist just outside of Settle,  not too far from the River Ribble in the United Kingdom.

Our Artists:

Eleanor de Chester has recently returned to the Kingdom of Atlantia from being in the Kingdom of Meridies for five years. While in Atlantia as a youth, she assisted as a combat scribe for King Ragnar Blackhammerr and Queen Kyneburh Boithuile and many others. She has happily joined our little troupe, ‘only for the inking thing’ and not for spelling or paint.

Elliot de Bletsho is the newest member to our giggly household. ‘Hi, I’m new!’ Elliot is currently studying calligraphy but has not ruled out illumination yet either.

Sara van Eerde (Sara Nayl Bendare, Sara Giglsworth of Wigglesworth, Sanada Tatsuko, she with too many names) has been a member of the SCA since 2009.  Sara earned her nickname ‘the Nail Bender’ at her first Pennsic.  Most of her work within the SCA has been as a Minister of the Lists, a brief stint as Baronial Minister of Arts & Sciences and serves as Baronial Herald for Stierbach.  When she has the event off she enjoys shooting archery, atlatl and discovering new crafts (chainmail, glass bead making, origami, sashiko to name a few).  Her contributions to this academy include assignment acceptance, the tricky ringleader, research, supplies, snacks, calligraphy, spellcheck and illumination.

Tarou Makoto:  joined the SCA when introduced to it by his father and sister. He is one of our top artists and knows the most out of all of us in the house hold about the chemical composition of paints.

Our Herald:

Daniel the Broc: We met Lord Daniel at Known World Heraldic and Scribal Synposium in 2018. He was the lone representative from the Kingdom of Avacal and we adopted him right away. Kind and service oriented we are proud to call him family no matter how far the distance is between us.
